U12 starts League Play with two wins

On Saturday, the SG Crows/Senators hosted their guests from Wassenberg for their home game in the state capital.

In perfect baseball weather, the newly formed team played with confidence from the start and consistently pursued the goal of playing successful baseball.
The SG scored at least once in every inning played, resulting in a narrow but never-in-doubt 11-6 victory.
Noah and Aaron, who took the field together as a “battery” for the first time, were key contributors to the win.
Two spectacular “inside-the-park” home runs and other strong hits by Noah, David, Mateo, and Maxim rounded out the first game.

With the first game in the bag, the team entered the second game highly motivated.
Paul earned the coaches’ trust and started the second game of the day as the pitcher on the rubber.
Paul dominated from the start, giving the Wassenberg team hardly any chance to get on base.
He sent 9 of the first 11 batters back to the bench via strikeout.
With this strong pitching behind them, the bats were swung with gusto.
Two more “inside-the-park” home runs by Aaron, doubles by Mateo, Paul, and Theo, and
base hits by Pepe, Maksim, Flynn, Robert, and Leo rounded out the offensive fireworks.
In the end, a comfortable 21-3 victory was on the scoreboard.

Special thanks go to Aaron, who delivered an outstanding performance in both games as catcher behind the plate and at the plate.

Thanks also go to Wassenberg for two fair games, and to all the parents, fans, and friends who spent a wonderful day with us at the baseball field.

Next up is a game on May 3rd in Wuppertal against the Stingrays.

ALL STAR GAME 12U & 15U

IN DORTMUND

Double success at the Allstar Weekend 2022

On October 3rd, 2022, the day of German unity, the traditional All Star Game of the 10U, 12U and 15U took place in Dortmund.
A season enclosing event which unfortunately had been canceled in recent years.

The Senators were represented in the 12U All-Star Team by the two players Massayuki Furomoto and Linus Boll, as well as the coaches Marlies and David Boll. In the 15U All-Star Team by the players Oliver Hanisch, Paul Wolf, Sakuta Tsubuku and Damiano Cortez-Rodriguez, as well as David Boll as a coach.

Massa and Linus were able to haul in the win for their team in a very exciting game together with players from the Bonn Capitals, Kottenforst Saints, Ratingen Goose Necks, Krefeld Crows and Neunkirchen Nightmares.
Massa proved himself at 1st base and in the outfield. He was also able to help his team win with a good hitting performance. Linus played as a catcher, at 3rd base and as the closing pitcher. He showed an outstanding defensive performance on all three positions. Through several good hits and clever base running, he had not only won the game, but also earned the award for MVP (Most Valuable Player) of the game given to him by the tournament organizers.

At 5:30 p.m., the 15U started their All-Star Game. Olli, Paul, Sakuta and Damiano were also able to win together with players from the Wuppertal Stingrays, Dortmund Wanderers, Hagen Chipmunks, Verl/Gütersloh Yaks, Paderborn Untouchables and the Witten Kaker Lakers.
In an exciting and hard-fought game, all four players showed their skills. Paul Wolf played in center field and impressed at the plate, including a home run over the right field fence. Oliver Hanisch was able to convince with two good hits and a stable defensive performance at first base, which he has come to be known for. As usual, Damiano Cortez-Rodrigues played safely on 3rd base and also showed his skills at the plate and on the base path.
Sakuta Tusbuko was able to showcase himself at three defensive positions, as well as with the bat in his hands. With a very good performance as a shortstop, catcher and last but not least as a pitcher over two innings, he played a big part in his team winning the All Star (Night) Game.

For all participating players, parents and spectators it was a really successful baseball day with the best baseball weather.
Thanks to the hosts and organizers for this great day.

Three Senators travel to Trier with the German Baseball Academy

Last weekend, the German Baseball Academy held a tryout weekend in Trier. As before with the All-State team, it again included participation from Düsseldorf. Young talents Paul, Linus and Matheo (from left to right) represented the Senators at the tryout in the old Roman City.

The players returned to Düsseldorf in a good mood and having learnt a lot, ready to jump back into practice. We would like to thank the DBA for organizing the tryout, even in these still difficult times.

Three Senators in the 12U All-State championship final in Bonn

In a year in which, as in the previous one, much was uncertain, a familiar situation arises in fall. In 2021, players from the Düsseldorf Senators were again appointed to the All-State Team of NRW. This year Paul Wolf and Linus Boll wore the states’s Jersey at the Rheinaue in Bonn, as well as long-time team trainer and Senators 12U coach Marlies Boll.

After the team from North Rhine-Westphalia finished the main round unbeaten with 4 wins, they could only be defeated in the final, in an exciting clash against the team from Baden-Wuerttemberg. Here, too, the host NRW was partly in the lead.

The strong performance of the kids from Düsseldorf quickly became noticeable, as Paul found himself on the lineup card in every game and Linus received the award for “Best Pitcher” at the end of the tournament. All the more remarkable, as the two of them in contrast to all other players on the team couldn’t play a live pitch season this year.

Congratulations to both of them and many thanks to Bonn and the DBV for hosting a great weekend.

Successful end of the season in every way.

Last Sunday the time had come. The last double header of our U12 Tossball Season took place at Südallee. The game was played at home against the joined forces Kapellen/Solingen. It quickly became clear that both games would go to the Senators Kids. The boys and girls on the other Side though were still motivated and showed that they enjoyed the game.

Thank you Kapellen/Solingen for a total of 2 double headers, with a lot of fun and friendly enviroments.

After the games the absolute highlight of the day for our children was still to come. They were allowed to put their skills to the test again, and really knock the balls around the parents’ ears.

24 children and just as many mums and dads were ready to play a game without mercy. The parents, a diverse bunch, realized pretty quickly that baseball is not as easy as it sometimes looks. Despite the good pitching of the U12 head coach, the adults needed a few attempts to get on base at all. The children were very amused. Walking around the field and then being thrown out by your own child was pure entertainment for the kids.

It had long been clear to us that our children could play baseball, but the parents quickly realized that they did not show any compassion towards their own parents. It was fought out, shoved with love and most importantly – a lot of laughter.

In the end it was clear: the adults had no chance. Congratulations to the children.

At the end of that day, it was obvious again what a great sport baseball is. Many new children have found their way to us throughout the year.. While it is sometimes difficult to do justice to all children, it worked. The little ones learned the basics in a short time, gained their first playing experience and the “big ones” were able to contribute a lot with their knowledge and skills. The team has an age structure of six to twelve years – German, American and Japanese children. And … it never matter! They were a team, sometimes communicated with hands and feet, cheered on and supported each other. That this works is also thanks to the U12 coaches, who took the time twice a week and on the weekend to support the children on their baseball path.

We are very much looking forward to the next season with lots of fun and exciting games!

Smiling faces!

Once again the Werther was on our side.

Not only the sun was shining, but also the faces of our young players. Happy to be able to play again, they were able to prove their skills and add two more victories against the Bonn Capitals. (13: 2/14:1)

What we are particularly proud of – apart from the athletic aspect, the children show that they are a TEAM and also convey that to the outside world, as proven by a lot of positive feedback.

This game day was not an easy undertaking for the coaches – 14 children on the lineup and many rookies who were rolling around on the Field and actually wanted to play …

Next Saturday we’re going to Kapellen (syndicate with Solingen), and we hope that we can enable some debutants to play for the first time.

Thanks especially to Olivier, who mastered his first “official” scorer mission with Great success and Musti in combination with the “great” Tim, for the spontaneous umpire mission!

Of course, nothing would work if we didn’t have our motivated parents who help out at every timen. A big thank you from us to you!

The youngest big again …

Last Sunday, our youngest Senators played their second league game of the season. The hosts were the Wuppertal Stingrays.

Even though the weather forecast didn’t set high hopes, one was proved wrong.

In the best baseball weather, our youngsters struggled a little with their self-confidence.

However, in the second inning of the first game, the ice was broken and the kids showed that the hard work throught the Summer break payed off. Both games were won and, according to the scoresheets, the Mini Senators recorded a total of 45 hits (the scorer was very generous because some of the hits were actually errors by the opponents). Still a considerable yield, if we consider that we played front pitch with coaches and not side toss (coach Jüntgen of the Stingrays had given his consent).

Thanks to the parents who all traveled with us and supported their kids loudly.

Thanks to the Wuppertal Stingrays for the exemplary and hospitable organization!

Strong showing in the first double header of the season

The first game finally took place on Saturday, June 26th, 2021 in Bonn for the Düsseldorf Senators U12 against the Capitals.

With great, sunny weather and players full of energy and joy from our U12 team – who haven’t been able to play a game against an opposing team for such a long time.

You could tell how excited they were to be able to play – with 4 new team members in the lineup as well.
Two of them have never played a game before and yet during the game you noticed that they were working together as a unit.

Team play was very important! The first game was was played with Side Toss.
In terms of play, the Düsseldorf Senators were far superior to the Bonn Capitals and won the game 6:22.

In the second game there were brief irritations because a pitching machine was used that neither our kids nor our coaches had any experience with.

Since only two team members had the opportunity to practice with such a machine, there was a feeling of frustration for a moment.
But the Düsseldorf Senators did not allow themselves to be confused in any way and adapted to the new situation as a team, encouraged each other, cheered and fought in every inning.
They rewarded themselves with a score of 1:10 in the end.

BRAVO!!!

We can be so excited about the upcoming games that will take place after the summer holidays.
It’s so much fun to watch the team develop and grow!!!

We thank the Bonn Capitals for a great atmosphere and great catering at the Baseball Stadium Rheinaue.

I would also like to thank our coaches for the great work they do with our children.

TWO “FUTURE STARS” AT THE DBA SCOUTING CAMP https://senators.de/en/two-future-stars-at-the-dba-scoutingcamp/ Tue, 22 Jun 2021 15:44:34 +0000 https://senators.de/?p=7348

Two of our Düsseldorf Senators from the baseball U12 team were invited to the scouting and training camp of the German Baseball Academy U11 last weekend.

The 11U camp went over four incredibly great and very hot days. At more than 30 degrees, 38 children from all over Germany could show themselves for the 12U national team – including two Senators. Matheo and Linus spent the four days full with enthusiasm, ambition, team play and passion.

A big thank you also goes to our Senators coaches who train our children with passion and a lot of commitment, so that we have the opportunity to promote children in baseball in the club and are among the best talents in Germany.

We should never stop getting children and parents excited about this sport, so that we can put together age-appropriate teams and more kids are bursting with enthusiasm and team play.
