Until the rain came…

In today’s match, the Düsseldorf Senators’ Verbandsliga team faced the Ratingen Goose-Necks.
The weather conditions during the night had taken their toll on the field, which had to be extensively resurfaced by the team.
Nevertheless, the first game of the day was able to start on time. Head coach Anton started on the mound and his team kept the Ratingen team at bay. It was a neck-and-neck race until the 6th inning. Closer Daichi brought the game home with a save in the last two innings. 12:7 for the Senators.

In the second game, Robin started on the mound and the team did not allow a single run despite 7 hits from Ratingen. Düsseldorf, on the other hand, scored 6 runs until the game had to be abandoned after the 4th inning due to heavy rain and the subsequent unplayability of the field.

We are looking forward to the return match in Ratingen and what the two teams will show there.

Double victory on home ground

Today, the Zülpich Eagles faced the first men of the Düsseldorf Senators in the Verbandsliga.
The first game lasted over 2.5 hours and was quite even in terms of points. Starting pitcher Javier only allowed 3 runs (2 earned) in 4 innings, but the opponents were able to equalize in the 6th inning and Andy was awarded the win for the final score of 8:11.

Robin started on the mound in the second game of the day and after less than 2 hours of play, it was “ball game” in the 5th inning with a score of 1:11. A strong performance from the whole team who are looking forward to the rest of the season.

First sweep for the Senators

In an exciting duel, the Düsseldorf Senators and the Dortmund Wanderers met in the Verbandsliga. Here is the report on the two games:

Game 1: Balanced race

– Duration: Just under 3 hours
– Many hits and a few errors dragged out the game.
Highlights:
– Starting pitcher Andy allowed only 3 runs in three innings.
– Reliever Anton also only allowed 2 runs in two innings.
– Closer Kevin only allowed 1 run in the final two innings.
– Result: The Senators won 13:6 after 7 innings.

Game 2: Dominance of the Senators

– The Senators built up enormous pressure in the first inning with 6 runs.
– They added another 5 runs in the third inning.
– Starting pitcher Robin only allowed 1 run in 4 innings.
– Closer Daichi also only allowed 1 run in the last two innings.
– Düsseldorf scored another 7 runs in the sixth inning.
– The game ended with the mercy rule in the sixth inning with a clear 18: 2 for the Senators.
– Coach Anton’s team showed a great performance on the field with a total of ten hits in the second game.

Split on the first match day

In a thrilling double-header against Verl last Sunday, the Düsseldorf Senators’ first team showed a rollercoaster of emotions and performances. In the first game of the day, the Senators suffered a defeat. Despite a strong will and a combative attitude, Verl managed to put the Senators under pressure early on and clinch victory.

The second game of the day was a real neck-and-neck race that kept the spectators on the edge of their seats until the very last minute. The lead changed hands several times and both teams put in an impressive performance that turned the game into a real thriller.

This narrow victory not only shows the team’s technical skills and unwavering team spirit, as well as their ability to perform under pressure, but also that anything is possible in baseball and that a defeat can only be an incentive for the next success. The Düsseldorf Senators have proven that they can learn from their mistakes and come back stronger. With this attitude and determination, they are optimistic about the future and the games to come.

No nightmares in Düsseldorf

On a beautiful, sunny Saturday morning, the Senators faced off against the team from Neunkirchen. Due to several factors, the team was only sparsely manned and only 11 players found themselves on the lineup card. However, this did not prevent everyone from going all in for the last game before a short summer break.

The Senators started with Finn Jakoby on the mound, who did an excellent job for five innings. With not even a handful of hits allowed, he was able to keep the opposing bats in check with numerous strikeouts to show for.

In the 6th inning, Robin Thorenz took over on the bump. The good lefty lived up to his task and finished the next two innings without any problems.

The exciting question, however, is how the offensive was to perform, which hasn’t been rewarded with points in the last few games despite solid performances. After many close games and especially the last game against Dortmund, which was lost in extra innings, one might think that frustrations at the pleat would be high.

An aggressive and attentive approach however led to many hits and stolen bases. Especially in the early innings, the Senators were able to hold their ground and scored important runs. In the end, the Senators were able to score 6 and thus won the game deservedly 6 to 0.

The coach also had many positive words about Philip Kirschner, who excelled in both offense and defense.

Coming off of a big win, the team went into the second game of the day feeling quite positive.

Unfortunately, in the second game they didn’t turn out to be the better team. An excellent performance from Neunkirchen at the dish put the Düsseldorf pitcher under a lot of pressure and was able to score many runs in the first two innings.

The Senators then tried to make a comeback in the middle innings. Despite good contact, hardly any runs could be scored, thanks to the opponents’ good pitchers.

So we ended up with a final score of 2 to 11.

All in all, however, the Senators seemed satisfied and are now full of anticipation for the second round of the 2. Baseball Bundesliga.
