Strong 7th place at the U22 Softball European Championship in Ostrava
The German U22 national team finished the softball European Championship in Ostrava and Zory in a strong seventh place. Among them: Lina Schwippert, who trains with the Düsseldorf Senators.
The team narrowly missed the Top 6 round. In the decisive group game against Spain, the score stood at 1:3 in the 6th inning when the game was first delayed and, after roughly 90 minutes, ultimately called due to heavy rain. The score at that point stood as the final result.
The response to this setback wasn’t long in coming: in the placement round, Germany went unbeaten against Poland, Ukraine, and Austria. A narrow 3:2 win over Austria in the final game sealed seventh place, closing out a tournament in which the team showed no further weakness after the setback against Spain.
Lina played a major role in the strong finish: she ranked among the best pitchers of the entire tournament, surpassed only by players from the gold and silver medal-winning teams – a more than strong performance.
Congratulations to Lina and the entire national team on a strong finish to the tournament!
