What a comeback! Senators 2 pull off a wild win against Dortmund
Some games you never forget. This one is definitely one of them.
After the first inning, the game already seemed decided: The Dortmund Wanderers led 10–3 and had put the Senators under pressure early on. But giving up was not an option for the Düsseldorf team.
Inning by inning, the team fought its way back into the game. Every hit, every run, and every base stolen brought new energy to the dugout. The Senators played with passion, patience, and unyielding determination.
Then came the explosion: Nine runs in the fifth inning and another ten runs in the sixth inning turned the game completely on its head. What had seemed like a hopeless deficit turned into a celebrated 33–23 victory.
It wasn’t just the 33 runs that made this victory special. It was the way the team came back. Patience at the plate, aggressive baserunning, and consistently capitalizing on every opportunity made the difference.
On offense, catcher Bö was the driving force behind the comeback, while third baseman Holger and shortstop Moritz repeatedly made key plays. The bottom half of the lineup also kept the rallies alive and ensured that the pressure on the Dortmund defense never let up. Newcomer and designated hitter Milan, as well as first baseman Till, each hit a double.
After a rough start on the mound, Kirschbaum brought the much-needed stability to the game, laying the groundwork for a spectacular comeback.
This game was more than just a win. It was a testament to this team’s character, its unity, and its belief in its own strength—even when the situation seems hopeless.
Baseball writes its own greatest stories. On this day, the Senators 2 wrote one of them.
