The first-ever Baseball5 tournament, organized by the Düsseldorf Senators, was all about games, fun and fast-paced sports. Well over 60 Senators & Friends followed the management’s call and demonstrated impressively last Saturday how club life works.
The tournament, based on the American model, started with the round robin at 11 a.m. The team members of the five participating teams were determined by lottery, which resulted in a diverse team. Starting with U10, U12, U15, men and women, the Senators Friends were the culmination.
So at 11 a.m., The Wolves, TeamDrei, The Smurfs, BumBumBananas and Team Carrot started.
In the everyone against everyone mode, first-class sport was offered and in round 5 there were real finals on fields 1 and 2 to ensure the best possible placement for the following knockout. Round.
The second round of the tournament began with the double elimination mode, with The Carrots receiving a bye as the winner of the round robin. Even if they go into the knockout as a slight favorite. round, they did not make it to the final. On a day where all games were exhausted, The Smurfs and The Wolves played two high-class and exciting final games. Starting the second phase of the tournament with a defeat, The Wolves forced the Smurfs to play the all-important game 10, which then turned out in the Smurfs’ favor.
We congratulate Coach Steffen and his team on deservedly winning the tournament, but we don’t want to forget everyone else who made this day a complete success.
“Seeing so many smiling faces at the end of a long day of tournaments makes us extremely happy,” said the organizers in unison.
A tournament that will definitely be repeated next year. After all, the Smurfs have a title to defend.
Thanks to everyone who got involved on this day. Be it as an umpire, scorer and not forgetting the numerous donations for catering. Without you, none of this would have been possible.
