On August 6th, 2022, the 2. BL Squad hosted the Ratingen Goose-Necks for a double header that started strong, but could not be upheld.
Hot right out of the gate, the Senators were able to plate 6 runs in the first Inning. Due to a good defensive performance through the middle innings the guests were only able to score two runs of their own.
The Senators however were able expand their lead with some great heads up base running by Leon B. as well a 2-RBI Triple by Dalvin Ogando. The Goose-Necks not intimated by the offensive power kept putting balls in play forcing the Düsseldorf defense to make plays on the speedy parts of the visiting line up. Not being able to catch up to afore mentioned plays, Ratingen was able to shorten the lead throughout the later Innings to 9:10. The Senators though, were able to save themselves over the finish line in the 9th, taking home the first of the two games.
In the second game the Senators seemed to have lost their offensive prowess, which had been so crucial earlier. The home lineup only managed to score 3 runs, while the pitching was clearly unmatched against a Goose-Necks offense still firing on all cylinders. 11:3 the final score parting the two teams in a split for the Senators last game at the Südallee in 2022.
