2 Wins in a row
Last weekend the Senators LL Team took the field again to continue their winning ways. This time they were off to the Goose-Necks in Ratingen. Surprisingly for some, a different face started on the mound with Andreas Rockel, who usually inherits either the outfield or second base area.
After 2 scoreless Innings, in which the teams matched evenly the Senators took the lead with 4 runs in the 3rd. Since the Goose-Necks could only answer with one run, they went into the 4th inning with a 4:1 lead.
By the beginning of the 7th inning, the visitors were able to score another 5 runs, while the Goose-Necks from Ratingen brought only one more run home. Going into the 7th inning with a 9:2 lead the Senators tacked on 3 more runs. Which meant the Goose-Necks had to score a run to save themselves into the 8th inning. The lineup from Ratingen succeeded and the game went into the 8th indeed.
2 more runs were scored in this however, starting pitcher Andreas Rockel was injured while running the bases and had to be taken out of the game. Starting third baseman Nils Ole Zander took on the job of closing pitcher. He only had to accept one run and was able to end the game with a final score of 14:4.
Particularly noteworthy is the strong hitting performance of the Senators. Especially Tobias Marquardt (3/5 with a double) and Nils Ole Zander (5/5 with a double) had a great day at the dish.
Another praise goes to the starting pitcher Andreas Rockel, who only gave up 3 runs and 5 hits over 7 innings. He was supported by an outstanding defensive performance that day.
And not to be forgotten is Phillip Kirschner’s comeback. We look forward to seeing you on the field more often again.
